Freezing Downpours Remind Us To Book Next Year’s Holiday

Knowing where one wants to visit or travel to for the next year’s holiday can be half the battle.  It can be seriously difficult to concentrate on what’s going on at home when there are invites to holiday here or take a back-pack and go wandering off to there and what about those divine river cruises or even the ocean going cruises.  As we get older it is sometimes difficult to get enthusiastic abouot travelling far.  Every part of the trip can be arduous – particularly if a flight is involved from a British airport.   Having developed a love of cruising, and especially the extra nice attention received at Southampton cruise terminal every time we have sailed, it has become quite difficult to even think about starting off via an airport to join a fly cruise.  There’s the hustle and pushing by the crowds and walking miles between baggage drop and departure lounge and another mile or six down to the departure gate.   Going through security at an airport is also grim.  All that being pushed along by those behind.  Arghhhh!    The opposite effect is at a cruise terminal.  Acres of room to queue if necessary and no walking miles to get on the plane, the ship will be the other side of the room where you show your passport.

The choice of cruise destinations is mind bogglng but obvously the travel inbetween each does mean means a relaxing few days with quizzes and educational talks in the theatre or games in the play areas.  The food on cruises is sublime, every little morsel is a treasure too.  Oh and no having to toss stuff out at the baggage drop, there is often no baggage weight limit within reason when cruising, whereas a budget flight is generally one bag at 20 kg for the fy cruise.  Enough said, we think.
